Are you mentally healthy? Maybe you aren’t even sure what mental health really entails, you may want to read further.

Cognition is the mental processes of thinking and knowing. It involves the input and output of data in the perceptual areas of the brain as well as the mechanism involved in one’s mental organization and sanity.

Usually, most mental disorders are associated with disrupted cognitive functions consisting of dysfunctions of attention, thinking, language, and memory. Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss, ADHD, and many other learning disorders are much more prevalent among cognitive disorders.

Measure cognition using laboratory-based assessments can assist in understanding the structural origin of cognitive disorders, which means revealing something about the brain that may be involved accidentally, congenitally, and sometimes induced by mind-altering substances.

It is now common to take direct measures of the cognitive state, electromagnetically with instruments such as the functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging fMRI. The results can help us understand which brain mechanisms are involved in cognitive health or cognitive impairment, and then drive the recommendation of treatment by a therapist or medical doctor.

More than just cognition

If the person has not begin treatment, encourage him/her to get help from professionals, such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, counsellor or doctor, as early as possible. Be a pillar of encouragement and be concerned in the rehabilitation progress.

Recovered and decided to re-join the workforce?

You may additionally favour getting in contact with businesses that provide job placement for persons with intellectual health condition.

As job opportunities are important, ensure you prepare yourself for the job. Why? Most jobs require active mental calculations. But be wary of jobs that stress and fatigue you mentally.

If you believe that you may not be able to cope with a full-time job, select a part-time job first. Let your brain get used to the world of work before engaging it in boatloads of work. Importantly, do not multi-task.
