THC, the primary psychoactive element in marijuana, generates an intoxicating or high sensation in cannabis. It can alleviate pain, reduce chemotherapy nausea, lower paraplegic muscle spasms, and improve sleep. You can also use THC for recreational purposes (to make you feel good), resulting in a relaxation and euphoria sensation. There are various forms of THC users can consume. This article outlines five types of THC and their benefits.

Table of Contents

  • 1. Delta 8 THC
  • 2. Delta 10 THC
  • 3. Delta 9 THC
  • 4. THCV
  • 5. THCA

1. Delta 8 THC

Delta 8 THC is one of the many cannabinoids in the cannabis plant produced naturally but in small amounts. As such, concentrated delta 8 THC amounts are usually manufactured from CBD (hemp-derived cannabidiol). It’s legal at the federal level (can be used in most states) and isn’t regulated.

Delta 8 products are available in various forms, including gummies, cookies, candies, tinctures, infused drinks, vaping cartridges, and breakfast cereals. Their potential benefits include pain relief, better sleep quality, overactive immune or nervous system calming, improved appetite, reduced inflammation, and prevention of sensory overstimulation.

Overconsumption of delta 8 THC may have adverse short-term effects like disorientation, anxiety, lethargy, dry eyes and mouth, impaired coordination, and increased heart rate. Luckily, these impacts resolve several hours of inhalation or edible consumption.

2. Delta 10 THC

The delta-10 cannabinoid is found in small amounts in the sativa plant. While it can get you high, its potency is lower than that of delta 9, making it akin to delta-8. Just like delta-8, delta-10 is manufactured using hemp-derived CBD.

In-depth delta 8 vs. delta 10 research can help you understand the similarities and differences between these two THC forms, including which one is more potent or can get you higher. Delta 10 THC is available in gummies, vape carts, and other edibles. It has euphoric effects, alleviates anxiety, acts as an energy booster, has excellent psychoactive effects for improving mood, and stimulates appetite.

3. Delta 9 THC

Delta 9 THC is the primary naturally occurring cannabis plant element and is the main intoxicating ingredient. In the states that have legalized this form of THC, there are cannabis dispensaries offering Delta 9 in multiple ways, including gummies, candies, cookies, tinctures, infused beverages, vaping cartridges, pre-rolled joints, and topical lotions. You can always buy Hash and kief, but first, you need to understand the difference between hash and kief to buy one.

While some manufacturers promote these products as being able to mitigate or treat specific medical condition symptoms, only two formulations (nabilone and dronabinol) are FDA-approved to reduce chemotherapy-induced vomiting and nausea. Nabilone can boost the appetite of AIDS patients. Consuming delta 9 can help in relaxation, reduced anxiety, heightened imagination, and increased exhilaration or happiness.

4. THCV

THCV, a cannabinoid chemical in cannabis, has varying structural elements contributing to various effects. It has prospective therapeutic rewards for appetite control and for providing an energetic and focused sense of euphoria. THCV acts as an appetite suppressant and shouldn’t be taken by people treating anorexia or appetite loss. It also helps with diabetes by lowering insulin resistance and regulating blood sugar levels, reduces pain attacks, and can stimulate bone growth.

5. THCA

THCA is THC’s acidic form and doesn’t intoxicate when ingested. For THCA to generate intoxicating effects, it must be exposed to heat via vaping, smoking, cooking, or dabbing for edibles. Through this process, its molecular structure changes because the carboxyl ring that ensures it doesn’t bind to receptors is removed. THCA can relieve pain and inflammation and treat symptoms of conditions like seizures and arthritis.

Endnote

Various THC forms are consumed for varying reasons. Familiarize yourself with the different types of THC and their benefits to find the one that suits your needs better.
