Here’s a rundown of what’s new and different between the AirSense 11 and the older AirSense 10:
Physical Dimensions, Mass, and Potential Energy:
The AirSense 11 is much like the AirSense 10 in size, weight, and volume output. The AIRSENSE 11 HUMIDAIR CLEANABLE TUB operates on a 65-watt AC power supply, making it more efficient and convenient for travelers than the AirSense 10’s 90-watt AC power supply. Compared to the AirSense 10, the AirSense 11’s maximum settings and humidity use less overall power, allowing you to get more use out of your CPAP battery. AirSense 11 is more portable than its predecessor because of its reduced size in both height and width. The new AirSense 11 is smaller and lighter (by 0.25 lbs) than its predecessor, the AirSense 10.
Producing Noise:
One of the most crucial aspects of a CPAP machine for a light sleeper is the level of noise it makes while operating. The AirSense 11 is slightly louder than the AirSense 10, but both are much quieter than a normal conversation.
Design:
The AIRSENSE 11 HUMIDAIR CLEANABLE TUB is a better option for those who want a machine that won’t clash with their bedroom decor because of its sleeker and more streamlined design than the AirSense 10. It’s smaller and more portable than its predecessor; the physical dial has been removed, and the menu structure has been revised to provide a more streamlined experience.
Functioning Touch Screen with On/Off Switch:
The AirSense 11’s new color touch screen with auto-dimming lights is an excellent option for those who have trouble sleeping because of bright lights. Instead of using the click wheel found on the AirSense 10, users can press the button at the top to activate or deactivate therapy. The AirSense 11 has a horizontal touchscreen, making it more like the iPad than the AirSense 10, and a more user-friendly menu.
Humidification:
The AirSense 11’s humidifier chamber capacity is nearly identical to that of the AirSense 10, but the two models now have different humidifier chamber shapes, making it impossible to reuse old water chambers. It has the same capacity for water, a side-sliding design, and a flip-top lid. Users who got their hands on the device early noted that the humidifier chamber needs to be more secure and extensive than the one on the AirSense 10. The AirSense 11 machine does not include the hose elbow formed with the AirSense 10, so the hose will protrude directly from the back. A 90-degree bend in the heated hose is no longer a part of the design.
Completely Integrated “For Her” Version:
The AirSense 11 removes the need for the distinct “For Her” and “For Him” models that have been sold for many years because it finally makes such differentiation superfluous. The machine now has, in addition to the standard therapy modes, a mode that is unique to women called AutoSet For Her. This mode can be activated from the menu on the machine itself.
Attempt It Out Option:
In addition, the new menu gives users access to a test drive feature that can assist first-time users. Thanks to the trial run function, you will have the flexibility to adjust to the CPAP therapy at a comfortable pace. While simultaneously checking for mask leaks, the AirSense 11 will begin at a low pressure of 4 cm H2O and gradually increase the pressure to 7 or 10 cm H2O. Before you try the trial mode, you need to check that your AirSense 11 is properly paired with Bluetooth and that the data from your mask has been uploaded.
Integration of New Features and Information Sharing:
Among the most notable updates introduced by the AirSense 11 is ResMed’s decision to promote deeper integration with their myAir app (for both Android and iOS). The first thing the PTA does is help people who are just starting with sleep apnea treatment by providing them with interactive video tutorials.
Second, the Care Check-In function is a part of the in-built therapy support for new users. Care Check-In asks questions about your progress in the first month of treatment to provide personalized coaching, support, and troubleshooting to boost therapy success and compliance.
AirSense 11 has the same cellular modem functionality as the original AirSense 10 (not applicable to the AirSense 10 Card-to-Cloud) and also includes Bluetooth connectivity. The app’s Remote Assist feature allows you and your doctor to gain insight into your therapy progress by viewing data from your nightly sessions and resolving issues remotely. ResMed’s Over-the-Air Software Upgrade capability, made possible by the device’s Bluetooth connectivity, allows you to quickly download and install the latest software updates, ensuring that your machine continues to function at peak performance over time. It’s great to see that ResMed has made it simpler to push updates and bug fixes wirelessly to the myAir app, as this indicates that they are committed to making the app the best it can be.
Power in a Pinch:
The ideal CPAP batteries with the AirSense 11 are the Portable Outlet UPS Battery and the Zopec Power Outlet 2. Even though the two batteries use the same AC power outlet, only the Portable Outlet Battery has an integrated backup generator that can be used if the power suddenly goes out. When ResMed finally releases it, the DC power adapter for the AirSense 11 will be compatible with the EXP48 and the EXP96 Lithium Ion Batteries.
Because improved reporting and troubleshooting are the primary focuses of this release, ResMed has placed a high priority on the integration of software and mobile apps. Those who suffer from sleep apnea should be able to benefit from their treatment to a greater extent due to the “Test Drive” function included on the AirSense 11 device. This function is designed to make mask fitting easier and reduce troubleshooting time. MyAir’s therapy assistant, care check-in, and the capability to wirelessly transmit data for algorithm upgrades will allow for improved communication between you and your physician, increasing your compliance with your prescribed course of treatment.
