Having an orgasm improves many aspects of your life from social and physical to mental. When you have an orgasm, whether that’s through sex or through masturbation with one of your favourite dildos, your body and bran are affected positively. Improves Sleep

Orgasms release a cocktail of hormones and chemicals that calm your mind so that you can sleep better. Oxytocin reduces the stress hormones in your body and vasopressin accompanies the release of your neuroprotective hormone, melatonin. Your body and brain also release chemicals like serotonin and dopamine during an orgasm which promotes a healthy REM sleep and people who are well rested have much better health outlooks in the future. 

Improves Mood

The release of all the chemicals and hormones stated above give you a happy feeling. All the physical benefits you get form going to the gym that transfer over to your mental wellbeing are also present when you orgasm. Sex and masturbation increase your heart rate and uses your muscles the same way that exercise does. And just as your mental health improves when you work out due to the endorphins being released, it also improves when you orgasm. 

Boosts Self-Esteem

A huge benefit of orgasms is their ability to boost your self-esteem. Sex and masturbation are natural human things to do that allows you to explore your own body and find what you like/don’t like. When you feel aligned with your sexual needs and desires, your self-esteem will greatly improve. By surrendering to pleasure, we allow ourselves to be exposed and enjoy which is a proven self-esteem booster. Sexual pleasure among young adults is linked to healthy psychological and social development which increases self-esteem, autonomy, empathy and confidence.

Reduces Stress & Anxiety

After sex, you naturally feel more relaxed and less anxious. When you have sex or masturbate, you won’t be thinking about the 101 things you have on your to-do list, Instead, you’re present and focussing on the things that give you pleasure so that you can reach orgasm. This in itself is a great stress relief. Other than that, the hormones released during an orgasm are enough to combat stress relief, even if just temporarily. 

Keeps Your Brain Sharp

Your brain and private parts are connected more than you might thing. Increasing your orgasms has found to improve things like memory and verbal fluency as the flood of hormones released during an orgasm sends a ton of messages throughout your body which increases brain activity. As well as this, orgasms generally improve sleep, lower stress and improve sociability which all contribute to brain health. 

Improves Intimacy with Your Partner

Having sex and orgasms with your partner is a great way to get satisfaction and improve intimacy within your relationship which can help you to connect on deeper levels. This can mean opening up a conversation about sex which can improve your sexual relationship and generally tightening the bond between both partners.
